Question

Posted

Hello,

I'm wondering if it might be possible to create a plugin that integrates with a domain module - for example, to add a DNS management tab, but that's independent from the module.

Really, all it needs to do is add the tab, and possibly pass the domain as a parameter. The plugin would handle the rest.

Thanks!

your request is something that need to be done in the next domain management module .

normally the domain management should have some universal command that should passed to any registrar class

register

delete( in case of predion deletion possible)

domain contacts ( contacts admin/tech/regitrant)

domain info (other info is posssible)

domain EPP (eppd code)

domain lock/unlock

domain privacy (enable/disable , can be also paid )

nameservice (add/edit/delete)

child nameserver (add/edit/delete)

dns management

domain forwarding

But DNS entry management -unlike the other things you list- is normally not handled by a registrar module, but by an independent one.

One could have different backends for that.

Recall the competition has a module to create DNS entries on a cPanel server, and one that creates database entries to be used by a standalone PowerDNS server.

I suppose you would customer be able to change/update protected domain, so it will be a customer side a domain field cutomizable?

If you want ofer protection for external domains, there is no so much relation with DNS management module
