interfasys Posted December 4, 2013 Report Posted December 4, 2013 Quite a few apps rely on GeoIP and it's not uncommon to have it installed in /usr/local for all apps to use. Since the control panel offers to turn it on, maybe it could also have a field where we could paste the path to GeoLiteCity.dat Quote
Paul Posted December 4, 2013 Report Posted December 4, 2013 In what environments is it common for the geoip database to be in a shared location? Just curious/trying to gauge how many people would find it beneficial, but I think it's a good feature request. Quote
interfasys Posted December 4, 2013 Author Report Posted December 4, 2013 I wasn't thinking of a specific environment, as anybody can install the libs in a centralised location for all apps to use, but FreeBSD, via ports, does put the main database in /usr/local and updates it via cron. Timothy Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 As another FreeBSD user +1. I surprised it's not more common to have a central place for GeoIP data since so many web applications are using it now. Quote
