Email Server or External Service?

Hi all,

 

I was just curious as to what approach people take to handling their emails when it comes to small hosting companies.
In all my online adventures I have always used an external service such as google and used mail forwarding and my own domain etc...

 

But I'm wondering if I should now be looking at something different such as setting up my own mail server, or if that would introduce reliability concerns etc...

How do you do yours?

Hi Stu,

Google and others can be convenient but if you really care about your data you might want to self-host this.

If you're not keen on that, you can meet in the middle and go with a mail provider that is smaller and more focused on the security and integrity of your data.

I read in a topic blog innobytech.com that you can upgrade your server to a PC. Who had such an experience? I think that for this purpose you can assemble a good PC from used spare parts.

I have a few ways you can set up your own email server. I've used these myself a few times

• https://mailinabox.email/
