I know it's pretty early, but this is actually really critical to a decision I need to make soon. Once 4.1 hits, with a proper domain management system, how will current domains (and domains using ModuleMatic's LogicBoxes module) be handled? Right now, Domains are basically the same as any generic service being billed and managed. Domain = Hosting = Design Services = Whatever else. In reality, domains aren't exactly like all other services.. So will we be able to migrate existing domains and their packages to this new domain management system? Or will all that have to be done manually?
-
I really hope that if domain management isn't in 4.0, it's in 4.0.1 and not making us wait artificially longer to make a big release (4.1). This is a major pain point.
-
That's completely irrelevant to the thread. It's up to Blesta to make their own business decisions regarding how licensing works. That's entirely their business and we aren't privy to any details. I'd rather keep this thread fairly on topic. We're still waiting for 4.0 / 4.1, and I'm anxious to see if Blesta incorporates any suggestions from this thread and other places in the forum.

The way he said it is totally inappropriate and lacks respect, but shunning him for an opinion isn't right I have a fairly large commitment towards Blesta (addon companies), but I can't actually use Blesta for what I need it to do. Do I want to use Blesta? YES. But right now, I'm stuck using WHMCS because of core components that Blesta will not get to until 4.1 at least. The reason I can't use Blesta? Because it would take a lot more money to customize it and bring it up to speed, than it would be to simply use a competing product. And even then, it wouldn't be 100% Let's be honest here guys, the development of Blesta is pretty slow. I'm not sure if the hope was that 3rd party developers would take up the slack, but there's been a really big mis-read on what your customers are using Blesta for, and what you think they should be using Blesta for. I think WHMCS got their act together security-wise, finally. But I don't like their company, I don't like how cPanel runs things either (but use them for server software... because cPanel). I really like Blesta, I met the Blesta guys at multiple Hostingcons, great guys, but Blesta needs to kick it up a notch if it wants to grow and put a dent in competitors' market-share. I'm still rooting for Blesta, i haven't sold my license, and still pay for updates even if I don't use it. But I wish Blesta would really start focusing on what customers want to use Blesta for, how they use it, how many clicks it takes to get to something, intuitiveness, along with a whole bunch of other things, and start moving development resources towards those pain points first, and worrying a lot less about ancillary stuff. Maybe even provide smaller, quicker updates. When a new feature is built and tested, ship it out. Stop waiting 3+ months to make bigger splashes with releases. You're a smaller company, who should be much nimbler than your bigger competitors. Use that to your advantage. You have the ability to pivot quickly and release things nearly as fast. I don't know why you don't do it. Like someone once told me, it's fine to give out ideas and roadmaps about where you're going. It's the execution that counts, and few people can do that part well.

It's things like this that are forcing me to hold off on using Blesta (amongst a bunch of other critical reasons) Being able to customize your order form is a big one. User interface is a big thing, and you want to be able to control it fully. Not let Blesta control it for you if there's no reason to. Same thing for the client area.

That's not really what I'm looking for unfortunately. I want the customer to click the least amount of times to order something. My idea is that they can order most things directly on the website and just use blesta for order confirmation / payment. So this can't be done via URL or API?
-
So would that mean i'd still need to build my own order form anyway? I'd prefer linking, because it's simpler, and easier to stylize across the website.
-
I'm building an order form on my website, and not using Blesta's. Blesta will still be used for order confirmation and payment. I'm coming from the other product, where you can link to a product, its addons and pre-enter a domain and option for it. For example, on the competing product, to skip the domain enter screen : http://blestainstall.com/cart.php?a=add&pid=5&configoption[3]=1domainoption=owndomain&sld=google&tld=org&=skipconfig=1 That would have the user select product ID 5, and having option 3 enabled. Google.org would be the domain, using own nameservers, and then skip the product configuration screen and go straight to order confirmation and payment. How do I do this with Blesta?
-
bump? Is this making it into 4.0? Or should I start looking at custom development?
-
You're the man. You're 100% right, that's the bit I missed.

Yup, that's how I had set it up Very similar to your tutorial I have 3 packages. $15 domains, 20 and 30. So in my example .com is in the $15 group. When a customer goes through the signup process, instead of going to the checkout screen after selecting .com and going through the nameserver selection screen, those 3 package options show up, and it goes back to Step 1 from the looks of it. Either I'm super confused, or this setup is confusing.
-
Yup, I've selected "domain and other" in the "standard" order form. I can't figure this bug out. Why does Blesta show a domain registration customer all the domain packages after the customer selects only 1 TLD? It should just bring the customer to the checkout screen, not giving them the option to add different "domain packages"
-
Okay, trying this out and I have to say I'm completely confused. I have 3 packages. Domains for 15, 20 and 30 dollars. I selected the TLD's I want to allow. Let's say for .com I'm charging $15 per year When I go for checkout, I get the normal configuration options for the nameservers. But... the next page is really weird. It has options for the 3 packages, again. And you can click any of them to "add to cart" and it just adds the same domain to the cart twice, three times, 4 times, etc.. Here's a screenshot. Can anyone enlighten me?

I'm wondering, what's the usual cost of module development within the Blesta world? I know it's akin to asking how long a ball of yarn is, so let me try to explain a bit I have some products that rely on Vultr.com. Hourly compute instances, storage boxes, etc. A competing billing application has a Vultr module for 99 dollars. But to be honest, the guy that runs that software has no idea how to run a business, and can't be relied on (can you guess who already?) But I have to admit, it's a sleek interface, and has options I need going forward. How much would a module like that cost to make for Blesta? I don't want to link to the competing product out of respect, but anyone who's been around can find it easily.
-
Oh wow, that's pretty inconvenient. You guys gave me a nice tip, so thanks for that Hopefully with v4, Blesta improves domain name services, because this is a round-about way of doing it.
-
What happens when your registrar partner increases the pricing on a certain TLD? Just move it to another package? How does that work for existing customers?
-
Curious how everyone manages domain names in Blesta.. Do you create a new package per TLD? I'm not seeing another way if using the LogicBoxes module, but maybe I'm missing something...
-
Just found out this wasn't possible currently, so here's my feature request Here's an example, easiest way to understand this. I want to offer a service addon that is a % of the main package value For example, I have 5 products that are different pricing. Let's say 10 dollars, 20, 30, 40 and 50 I want to create 1 option, which would be a % for each. So let's say I want it to be 10% of the main package pricing, the option, if selected with a product would be 1 dollar, 2 dollars, 3-4-5 and so on. This would avoid creating an option for each product, which gets tedious and hard to manage.
-
For those of us who bought the v2 owned license that transferred over to v3, how will the v4 upgrade work? Are we paying for a brand new version, or simply continuing with the upgrade/support yearly cost?

I want to add a few free package options (Packages > options) Basically, I want to add 10 locations to the service, and the customer selects one location. There are no additional fees for any of these locations. Every time I try to add them, it errors out saying the term needs to be greater than 0, and the value must be higher than 0. How do I achieve this?
-
Tried searching but couldn't find it. Is there a WHM version for cPanel extended? I'd like it if customers never had to leave Blesta. Multiple interfaces gets confusing in this day and age.
-
Anything new on this? Any luck we can get this soon

Not sure I understand... I can't send both commands via checkout link. For example : http://domain.com/clients/order/main/index/standard/?group_id=2&pricing_id=4 it works but http://domain.com/clients/order/main/index/standard/?group_id=2&pricing_id=4&group_id=1&pricing_id=2 does not work, only gives the second product and then errors out.

I'm building an order form directly on my website, so bypassing Blesta's order forms and making it easier for customers to order. The idea is to pull product data via API, and then creating a direct link to a product. The problem I'm having is that for example, I have product 1, it has its own addons and configurable options. This part is fine. I also have a second product that *NEEDS* to be its own product. It cannot be an addon. Think SSL certificates where you want to allow customers the ability to buy them separately from their main services, and they need to be billed separately. How can I have a customer add those 2 products with one direct link? Any ideas? For example : http://domainname.com/blestafolder/order/main/packages/order-form-name/?package_id=1&group_id=1&package_id=2 Would that work?
